A young woman was injured in a single-vehicle Seattle car accident when the car she was driving crashed into Ballard Locks, a common tourist attraction in Seattle. The Ballard Locks raise and lowers boats for travel between the Lake Washington Ship Canal and Puget Sound.

According to police, the woman was driving her Honda Accord south on 32nd Avenue Northwest near Northwest 54th Street around 12:15pm on Tuesday when she lost control of her vehicle.

The woman, who is in her late teens or early 20s, was critically injured in the accident. She had to be freed from the wreck by members of the Seattle Fire Department, and was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

The woman's injuries were thought to be life-threatening at the time, but there have been no recent updates on her condition. The woman was in the car by herself and no one else was injured.

Police are still not sure what caused the accident, and have not determined if alcohol or drugs played a role. Our thoughts are will all of those affected by this crash
